There are so many questions to ask and observations to make when you walk around a city. It seems there's always a lot to learn from the walls. The older photos above were taken by my grandfather in the earlier years (probably late 50's) of Stroessner's military dictatorship in Paraguay. He ruled for thirty five years until 1989. The 25th anniversary of his regime's fall was in early February of this new year. There is still so much of that history that is not known, and it sure is not a sufficiently or widely studied one when it comes to Latin American History. Safe to say some remodeling has happened since those years. Now, below are photos that I took on my iPhone over Christmas break wandering around downtown Asunción. I think these walls also have stories to tell.
